Schwannomas are benign, solitary and encapsulated tumors. They are considered to originate from the schwann cells of the nerve sheath. The lateral cervical region and the mouth are the most common sites in the head and neck region. Most parapharyngeal schwannomas arise from the vagus nerve or the cervical sympathetic nerves. Ultrasonography, CT or MRI may be helpful for estimation of the tumor margins and infiltration of surrounding structures. Treatment is dissection of tumor while trying to preserve nerve function. Exicion and reanostomosis- by a nerve graft is another successful alternative. Our case is twenty-seven year old, female patient. She complaint of a slowly growing mass on the right supraclavicular region. The mass was mobile, soft, 5x3,5 cm in size and was adjacent to the right lobe of thyroid. Cervical USG, MRI were performed. During the operation a mobile and encapsulated mass originating from vagal nerve was dissected to the cranial base and then excised. Histopathological diagnosis was consistent with cystic schwannoma. This case was reported as it is quite rare to see a schwannoma originating from vagal nevre in cystic nature.
