Eğitime Aile Katılımı: Sosyo-Ekonomik Özellikler Etkiliyor Mu?

Abstract:

Araştırma çocuğu özel okulda öğrenim gören ailelerin eğitime katılımla ilgili görüşleri irdelenerek aile gelir durumu ve eğitim giderlerinin eğitime katılım etkisini belirlemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Çalışma, nitel ve nicel desenlerin birlikte kullanılarak gerçekleştirildiği karma modelin keşfedici sıralı deseninde tasarlanmış çalışmadır. Keşfedici sıralı desen araştırmalarında nitel desenle keşfedilen bulguların nicel olarak sınanması amaçlanmaktadır. Araştırma verileri İstanbul ve Ankara ilinde yer alan bir özel okul ortaokul velilerinden (nitel: 13 / nicel: 217 veli) elde edilmiştir. Araştırma verileri, veli katılım görüşme formuyla nitel ve veli katılım ölçeğiyle nicel veri toplama araçlarıyla elde edilmiştir. Araştırmada nitel boyutta özel okul velilerinin genel olarak eğitimsiz toplumun yaşamı zor kıldığı ve daha çok ailede alınan eğitimin ileriki yıllarda alacağı eğitim hayatının temelini oluşturacağı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ebeveynler, okul ve sınıflara katılımı çocuklarının gelişimlerini bizzat yaşama isteklerinin canlı tutulmasıyla olacağını belirtmişlerdir. Okulda veya evde eğitime katılımın olumlu ve olumsuz taraflarıyla ilgili bir veli fazlayla aileler tarafından olumlu bulunduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Nicel boyutta ise velilerin eğitime katılım görüşleri toplam puanı, hane halkı gelirlerine ve bir çocuğun okul ortamları dışında öğrenme ve yaşantılarını zenginleştirmek için harcanan miktara göre farklılık gösterdiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçları kapsamında başarılı bir aile katılımı programı oluşturmaya yönelik araştırma bulguları bağlamında pratikte karşılığını bulan önerilere ulaşılmıştır.

Family Participation in Education: Does Social and Economic Characteristics Affect?

Abstract:

The research aims to determine the family income status and the impact of education expenses on the participation of families studying in the private school. The study is the work designed in the detective order pattern of the karma model in which the qualitative and quantitative patterns are performed together. The purpose of the explorer's order pattern research is to test the findings discovered with the quality pattern in quantity. The research data was obtained from a private high school tutors located in Istanbul and Ankara province (quality: 13 / quantity: 217 tutors). The research data was obtained by means of qualitative data collection with the qualification and the scale of participation by the interlocutor's participation form. The research has concluded that the quality size of private school parents generally make the life of the uneducated society difficult and that more education received in the family will form the basis of the educational life that they will receive in the coming years. Parents, participation in schools and classes said their children’s development will be with their desires to live in life. In school or at home, a guardian relating to the positive and negative aspects of participation in education has been achieved to the conclusion that the families are too positive. In the scale, the views of the parent’s participation in education have come to the conclusion that the total score of the parent’s participation in education, the income of the household population and the amount spent on learning and enriching their lives outside the school environments of a child are different. The results of the research have reached the recommendations found in practice in the context of research findings aimed at creating a successful family participation program.

Parental Involvement In Education: Does It Affect Socio-economic Characteristics

Abstract:

This study aimed to investigate the opinions of parents whose children study at private schools about involvement in education and to determine the effect of family income and education expenses on participation in education. The study used an exploratory sequential mixed methods design involving both qualitative and quantitative methods. In exploratory sequential design studies, the aim is to quantitatively test the findings explored by the qualitative design. The study data were obtained from the parents of a private middle school with branches in İstanbul and Ankara provinces (qualitative: 13 / quantitative: 217 parents). The data of the study were collected using a parental involvement interview form, which provided qualitative data, and a parental involvement scale, which provided quantitative data. On the qualitative dimension, the study found that private school parents generally thought an uneducated society made life difficult and that the education received in the family would constitute the basis of the education that would be taken in the following years. Parents stated that their involvement in schools and classes would be possible when their desire to see their children’s development was kept alive. Regarding the positives and negatives of the involvement in education at school or home, more parents found it positive. On the quantitative dimension, on the other hand, the total score of parental involvement in education was found to show a difference according to the household income and the amount spent for enriching a child's learning and life outside the school environment. The results of the study provided some practical suggestions for establishing a successful family involvement program.
