Introduction and Objective: Evaluate the prognostic factors, clinical characteristics and the results of the 23-gauge pars plan vitrectomy in glob trauma, which is the back segment retention. Method and Requirements: Patients with a 23-G pars plan vitrektomy applied in our clinic due to traumatic back segment damage over a year period and with a minimum of 1 year follow-up period were examined retrospective. The patient’s age, gender, type of trauma, and the place where the trauma occurs (open environment, open environment), the presence of intraocular foreign bodies, the time passing between the trauma and the 23-gauge pars plan vitrektomy, the surgical procedure, the duration of follow-up, the other pathologies related to the trauma accompanied by the damage of the back segment, the start and end of vision severity and complications were analyzed. 75 patients were examined in the field of study. 92% of the patients were men. Thirty (40%) patients with closed 45 (60%) patients with open glob trauma, twenty eight (37) patients with intraocular foreign bodies. The postoperative vision severity was 5/200 and above in 31 (43%) patients, and 20/40 and above in 23 (32%). In patients with intracular foreign bodies, the functional success rate was higher. Low pre-operative vision sharpness and the presence of coroid decolm was found associated with lower functional success. CONTRACT and RESULT: The vision loss after the trauma is multifactorial and requires individual approach in the patient. Pre-operative vision of the eye. The type of injury and the presence of coroid decomposition are important prognostic indicators.
