Abstract:

Purpose: The aim of this study is to identify what factors the headache that the healthcare staff involved in the COVID-19 pandemic may be related to during the pandemic process. Instrument and Method: The universe of study was formed by health staff engaged in the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey form was formed from 40 questions. The survey questioned the demographic information of the participants, the presence of contact with the COVID-19 patient, what personal protective equipment they frequently used, the impact of the pandemic process on the lifestyle, the presence of vision deficiency, the effect of the pandemic process on water consumption, the presence of old or de novo headaches, the factors that may be effective on this pain and the factors that reduce the pain. 177 health workers participated in the study. 93.8 percent of the daily use of the mask is over 4 hours. In the days they used personal protective equipment, 62.7% of participants an increase in water consumption. 72.3% sleep disorders, 83.1% an increase in stress and anxiety. 65,5% of participants experienced headaches during the pandemic process. They have that the most likely causes of headache are excessive sweating and difficulty breathing due to the use of personal protective equipment. The result: A significant portion of healthcare workers experience headaches during the pandemic process. In addition to the physical difficulties created by the use of personal protective equipment on the formation of headache, the stress created by the pandemic process should not be neglected.
