Cumhuriyetin ilk yıllarında toplumsal kalkınmanın önde gelen hedeflerinden biri de eğitim ve eğitimle iç içe olan sosyo-kültürel hayatın geliştirilmesi, canlandırılmasıydı. Bu konuda girişilen müspet çabalar pek çok alanda olduğu gibi sivil toplum örgütlenmelerine de yansımış, bunun neticesi olarak memleketin her yerinde pek çok dernek ve cemiyetler teşkil edilmişti. Ankara merkezli olarak “Türkiye Muallimeler ve Muallimler Dernekleri Birliği” adıyla kurulan Türkiye Muallimler Birliği de bunlardan bir tanesiydi. Birlik, mevcut adını 1924 genel kongresinde almış ve Anadolu’nun çeşitli yerlerinde faaliyet gösteren muallim derneklerini de kendine bağlamıştı. Muallimlerin yardımlaşma ve dayanışmalarını temin etmek gayesiyle kurulan ve “Türkiye Muallimler Birliği” çatısı altında faaliyet gösteren bu şubelerden biri de Bilecik’teki “Ertuğrul Muallimler Birliği” idi. Ertuğrul Muallimler Birliği, topladığı kongrelerde aldığı kararlar doğrultusunda ve genç cumhuriyetin ruhuna yaraşır bir biçimde gerçekleştirdiği hizmet anlayışıyla eğitimin yaygınlaştırılmasında, eğitim seviyesinin yükseltilmesinde Bilecik’teki ilim irfan ordusunun canla başla çalıştığı fedakâr bir organizasyon olarak tarihteki yerini almış ve erken Cumhuriyet Dönemi Bilecik’in sosyal yaşamında aktif bir rol oynamıştır.
One of the main objectives of social development in the early years of the Republic was the development and revitalization of social and cultural life that is integrated with education and education. The efforts made in this regard reflected the organizations of civil society, as well as in many areas, as a result of which many associations and communities were formed throughout the country. The Turkish Muallim Union, which was established under the name "Turkey Muallimers and Muallimers' Association" based in Ankara, was one of them. The union took its current name at the general congress in 1924 and also connected the Muallim associations that operate in various places of Anadolu. One of these branches, established with the aim of ensuring the assistance and solidarity of the Muallim and operating under the roof of the "Turkey Muallim Union", was the "Ertuğrul Muallim Union" in Bilecik. The Ertuğrul Muallim Union, in accordance with the decisions it took in the congresses it gathered, and in the spread of education with the sense of service that the young republic performed in a manner appropriate to the spirit, in the elevation of the level of education, took its place in history as a sacrificial organization in which the army of science in Bilecik worked with life and played an active role in the social life of the early Republic Period of Bilecik.
During the early years of Turkish Rebublic, one of the forthcoming objectives of social development was to improve and to revive the education and social cultural life interbedded with education. As it was seen in most fields, the constructive attemps about this topic also reflected on the non-govermental organizations. Thus quite a lot of associations and communities were constituted all around the country. Turkish Teachers Union founded by the name of the “The Federation of Unions of Male and Female Teachers” was one of them which was centered in Ankara. The Union took its current name in the congress in 1924 and united the other Teachers Associations which were active in various parts of Anatolia. The Ertugrul Teachers Union in Bilecik was one of these departmens, acting under the same roof of Turkish Teachers Union which were founded with the aim of providing cooperation and solidarity among teachers. Ertugrul Teachers Union played on active role in the social life of Bilecik in the early Republican period and took its place in the history as a sacrificing and heartily working organisation and scholars army with the intellection of the spirit of the Republic so asto disseminate and as a result increase the level of education.
