Abstract:

Decision making is one of the important skills that students are given in the teaching of social information. In this study, social information was aimed at studying teachers candidates, their levels of self-esteem and decision-making styles in terms of gender, class level, parent-parent educational status, parent-parent work status, brothers and sisters and the variables in the settlement unit they live in. In the study, a visual scan model was used. The participants of the study were determined by the easy-to-access sample method. In this framework, the work group included 1135 social information teachers candidates. The data of the study was collected in the course of the 2020-2021 educational year. The data of the study was collected with the Melbourne Decision Scale I-II. Gazi University Measurement Assessment Ethical Underwork Group on 08.09.2020 and Decision No. 08 stated that the study was not an ethical problem. In the analysis of the data, the IBM SPSS 22.0 statistical program was used. Since the data showed no normal distribution, the Mann-Whitney U test and the Kruskal-Wallis test were applied from non-parametric tests. According to the findings of the study, social information has come to the conclusion that the level of self-esteem in the decision-making of the teacher candidates is low. Social information is the conclusion that in the decision of the teacher candidates, their levels of self-esteem do not differ significantly according to gender, class level, brothers and sisters, mother and father's educational status, mother and father's working status, and the variable in the residential unit they live. Social information has been achieved to the outcome that teachers’ candidates have taken escaping, panic and delaying decisions. The conclusion is that the careful decision making style has the lowest score average. Accordingly, the social information included in the work group has been determined that teachers candidates do not trust themselves in making decisions, they tend to leave their decisions to others, constantly delay and find urgent solutions.
