Abstract:

In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the performance level of gastronomy tourism supply sources of Turkey in the context of demographic characteristics of domestic tourists. Since gastronomic tourism has become an important alternative tourism type in recent years, the importance of studies on the subject increases. Although there is a quantitative increase in academic research on gastronomy tourism in the literature, it can be said that studies that provide a holistic view of the gastronomy tourism supply sources of destinations are not very common. In this regard, it is believed that this study will make significant contributions to the literature. In the study, quantitative research methods and questionnaire as a means of data collection were used. As part of the research, data was obtained from 1388 local tourists who participated in tourist activities at least once in the last 2 years in Turkey. According to the results of the study, it was determined that the demographic characteristics of the participants played a decisive role in evaluating the performance of gastronomic tourism supply sources. In this regard, defining characteristics such as age, income, occupation, marital status, gender and travel motivations have come to the fore.
