Abstract:

The mining sector differs partially from other branches of industry in terms of working conditions and technological main operations. Mining activities are often carried out in difficult environments (underground/surface) and in areas remote from urban habitats. Despite the many negatives experienced in the sector, the contribution of mining foreign trade to the economy of our country (Mining / GDP = 0.821.17%) has remained at approximately the same level for decades. In order to achieve an increase in the efficiency ratio of the Turkish mining sector, business activities need to be legally and technologically redesigned. It is possible for mining enterprises to hold on to today's competitive market conditions only with high working efficiency, occupational safety and strong working capital. This approach highlights the “circular economy” model, which is more ecologically and economically sustainable. In order to protect natural resources and exploit the advantages it offers us, we need to use the raw materials produced more effectively. But this is possible only if we change our habits of producing goods and services and consuming natural resources. In the research conducted for this purpose, the concepts of circular economy and digitalization in the mining sector of our country have been examined from different perspectives.
