Şinasi, resigned from the Tecüman-I Ahval newspaper, and began issuing Tasvir-i Efkâr newspaper from June 27, 1862. The Tasvir-i Efkâr was an Ottoman newspaper mainly concerning details of education and public news, had the mission of dissemination of European ideas, conducting debates related with the language purity and criticizing the government's basic policies and governmental actions in Ottoman territory. That is because of this, population showed great interest to this newspaper and its circulation gradually increased. When Şinasi and Namik Kemal flied to Europe, the newspaper was published by Recaizade Ekrem. Tasvir-i Efkâr, gradually lost its influence in the public opinion, and closed down after pressing volume of 835 in 1868. This newspaper gave the news of lands of the Ottoman Empire from time to time to inform the public. During the four-year publication period, it published news related with other health issues as well as articles in the field of veterinary medicine. Newspapers which took a part in the important sources of history, indicating the most important events and the agenda of that period also gave information and news related with veterinary medicine and therefore having a great mission for providing detail knowledge for researchers working on this subject. As it is known, in the history of veterinary medicine newspapers and the media are useful tolls in order to collect news and information related with history of veterinary medicine. In this study, the illustrated newspaper Efkâr-i has been dealt with this aspect and, news and information related with the area of veterinary medicine interests have been collected.
