In this study, the effect of gas pressure on the shape and size of the AM60 magnesium alloy powder produced by the gas atomization method has been experimentally studied. The tests were performed at a fixed temperature of 820 °C, at a nozzle diameter of 2 mm and using 4 different gas pressure (5, 15, 25, 35 bar). The argon gas was used to atomize the ery. To determine the shape of the produced AM60 powder, the scanned electron microscope (SEM), the phases of the produced powder and the percentage of these phases, XRD, XRF and SEM-EDX analysis, and the laser measurement device for the analysis of the powder size, were used. Hardness tests have been performed to determine the mechanical characteristics of the produced powder. The overall appearance of the produced AM60 alloy powder is ligamen, bar, dropless, flake (pul) and global, but due to the increase in gas pressure, the shape of the powder has mostly changed to flake and global. It was found that the thinest powder obtained was formed at a temperature of 820 °C, at a pressure of 35 bar gas at a 2 mm nitrogen diameter, and the whole of the powder was complex.
