Bu araştırmanın amacı Anish Kapoor’un çalışmalarında Doğu düşüncesinin ve estetiğinin çözümlenerek Batı sanatı içerisindeki etkisini analiz etmektir. Sanatçının eserleri araştırmanın amacı doğrultusunda amaçlı örnekleme yöntemine gidilerek seçilmiştir. Örneklerden elde edilen veriler betimsel analiz yöntemi ile incelenerek bulgulara ve yorumlara varılmıştır. Kapoor’un sanatsal üretim sürecine bakıldığında 3 farklı temelde gelişim gösterdiği görülmektedir. Bunlar ise: 1970 biçimci anlayış, 1980 sonrası ilk dönem ve 1990-2000 yılları arası olgunlaşma dönemi eserleri olarak adlandırılabilir. Her dönem birbirinin devamı gibi gözükse de ele aldığı kavramlar ve kullandığı dil açısından farklılıklar göstermektedir. Bu noktada sanatçı eserlerinde eklektik bir kimliği ön plana çıkarmaktadır. Kapoor’un eserlerinin özellikle doğup büyüdüğü ülke olan Hindistan’a özgü dinlerin ve Doğu’ya ait kültürün etkisi göze çarpmaktadır. Sonuç olarak kültürler arası bir rol oynayan Anish Kapoor, hem günümüz sanat anlayışı içerisinde başat eserler üreterek Batı anlayışını temsil etmiş, hem de eserlerinde seçmiş olduğu temalar ile Doğuyu temsil etmiş değerli bir sanatçıdır.
The aim of this study is to analyze the influence of Eastern thought and aesthetics in the Western art by analyzing Anish Kapoor’s studies. The works of the artist have been selected by the method of sample for the purpose of the research. The data obtained from the examples were studied through the visual analysis method to findings and comments. When it comes to Kapoor's artistic production process, it appears that it has evolved on three different foundations. These are: the 1970 formative understanding can be called the works of the first period after 1980 and the maturation period between the 1990-2000 years. Each period appears to be a continuation of each other, but it shows differences in terms of the concepts and language it uses. At this point, the artist puts an eclectic identity in his works. Kapoor’s works are especially influenced by the influence of religions and culture of the East, which is the country in which he was born and grown. As a result, Anish Kapoor, who plays a cross-cultural role, is a valuable artist who has represented the Western understanding by producing main works in today’s art understanding, as well as represented the East with the topics he has chosen in his works.
