Abstract:

The issue of the integration of migration policy is particularly noteworthy. Because it concerns both immigrants and local people very closely. In this policy, the necessity of living together with the local people and immigrants emerges. Good management of this process is very important for both local people and immigrants. One of the most disadvantaged groups in the migration movement is children. Since the effects of the post-migration adaptation process in childhood, which is the most important age in human life, are futureoriented, it should be emphasized more carefully. In the management of integration of migration policy, certain responsibilities are imposed on local people, public authorities and immigrants. The management of this process has become even more important in countries such as Turkey, which have been exposed to large numbers and massive migration movements in recent years, especially in Syria. Activities for children in the integration of migration policy may be beneficial in overcoming this process successfully. One of the most important of these activities is to prepare children’s magazines. Although there are many children’s magazines for children in Turkey, it is seen that there are not many publications for children in the context of the this process. In this study, as one of the activities in the context of it for children, The children’s magazine titled Muyu, published by the Department of Integration and Communication of the Ministry of Interior of Turkey, General Directorate of Migration Management, will be discussed. Muyu is a children’s magazine published by an official institution in order to facilitate the adaptation process of Turkish and foreign children in Turkey, to have fun and cultural exchange together. In this study, first of all, the general evaluation of Muyu magazine in terms of content was made, and then the contribution of the magazine to the integration of migration policy was examined. The research was designed with scanning model. The research object is the first (2020) and second (2021) numbers of Muyu. Research data were collected through the Child Journal General Evaluation Form and the Child Journal Evaluation Form on Practices Facilitating Post- Migration. It has been detected that it met 70% (n=14) of the criteria in Muyu’s Children’s Journal General Evaluation Form and partially met 30% (n=6); It met 37.5% (n=3) of the criteria in the Child Journal Evaluation Form on Practices Facilitating Post-Migration, 12.5% (n=1) partly met, 50% (n=3) did not meet at all. The main proposal of this study will be to develop the issues that are partially or not included in the forms used for data collection. In addition, reading the magazine together with local and immigrant children will provide multi-faceted contributions in terms of peer sharing and development of harmony. It was also suggested that it would be useful and necessary for non-governmental organizations to publish periodicals for migrant children.
