Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to identify their psychometric characteristics by adapting the Spatial Anxiety Scale developed by Lyons and others (2018) to the Turkish culture and Turkish culture.  The research phase is designed in the karma design. The study group consists of 1169 university students studying in different departments/programs of two state universities. The original measurement consists of 24 matters and 3 factors (mindful manipulation, imaging, finding direction). Translation studies have been carried out in order to ensure the language validity of the scale, and the relationships between data obtained from the English and Turkish form have been studied. The opening factor analysis for the construction validity resulted in the structure consisting of 21 matters and 3 factors. Verification Factor Analysis results showed that the obtained structure was verified. In addition, the calculated corrected material total correlation ratings provided evidence of structural validity of the t values for the comparison of the 27% lower/over group average. Cronbach alpha and Guttman’s two semi-internal consistency ratings and composite reliability ratings also show that the measurement tool gives reliable results. According to the achieved values, the scale of spatial concern adapted to Turkey has been achieved as valid and reliable.
