Abstract:

Physical Activity and Basal Metabolic Speed Values How Effective Is Special Talent Examination in Sports Sciences During Parking?
2020

Abstract:

For the determination of the level of physical activity (FA) with a complex structure, the calculation of daily energy consumption is used as a measure. One of the main parts of energy consumption is the basal metabolism rate (BMH). First of all, the proposed study aims to determine the FA levels and BMH values of candidates entering the Special Talent Examination (Speed Trail) at the Faculty of Sports Sciences during the exam preparation period. Secondly, it has been studied to what level the determined values affect the route time (PS). The sample group of the study was formed by a total of 279 volunteers (105 women; 174 men) who participated in the Special Talent Exam of the Faculty of Sports Sciences. The study used the International Physical Activity Survey-Short Form (IPAQ-SF) and demographic information form as a data collection tool. The participants’ BMH values, age, body weight and size data were used by the Harris-Benedict formula. The body mass index (VKI) of the candidates is also determined. The PSs of the candidates who participated in the skill track were registered and linked to the FA level and BMH values. In the analysis of the data, the SPSS 23.0 package program was used. Regression analysis has been applied to determine the FA level and the effect of BHM on PS and VKI. According to the results of the analysis, it has been found that BMH has a statistical impact on PS and VKI (p<0,05). While the BMH data of women and men candidates were found to have a statistical impact on the VKI (p<0,05), the FA level was not found to have an impact on the VKI. As a result, the candidates to go to the special skill exam should pay more attention to their physical capabilities to the developmental exercise programmes, and the need for daily nutrition and dietary routine to be formed according to the required calorie amount.

How Effective Are Physical Activity and Basal Metabolic Rate Values On Sports Sciences Special Ability Test Track Scores
2020

Abstract:

Calculation of daily energy consumption is used as a criterion in determining the level of physical activity (PA) which has a complex structure. Basal metabolic rate (BMR) constitutes one of the main parts of energy expenditure. In the present study, primarily it was aimed to determine the FA levels and BMR values of the candidates who took the attitude talent exam (ability track) of the Faculty of Sports Sciences during the exam preparation period. Secondarily, the effect of these determined values on the track scores (TS) was examined. The sample group of the study consisted of 279 volunteer candidates (105 women; 174 men) who participated in the Special Attitude Test (Ability Track) of the Faculty of Sports Sciences. International Physical Activity Questionnaire–Short Form (IPAQ-SF) and demographic information form were used as data collection tools. BMR values of the participants were calculated according to the Harris-Benedict formula using age, body weight and height data. In addition, body mass index (BMI) of the candidates were determined. The TS of the candidates participating in the ability track were recorded and correlated with their PA level and BMR values. SPSS 23.0 statistical package software was used in the analysis of the obtained data. Regression analysis was used to determine the effect of PA level and BHM on TS and BMI. According to the study results, it has been determined that BMR has a statistically significant effect on TS and BMI (p<0,05). While BMR data of female and male candidates were found to affect BMI statistically (p<0,05), PA level was not. As a result, it was revealed that candidates who will take special attitude test should pay more attention to exercise programs that improve their physical capacity; at the same time their daily nutrition and diet routine must be organised according to the amount of calories needed.
