Abstract:

This study examined the impact of individual innovation and problem-solving skills among the 21st century skills of high school students on their attitudes towards coding. In the research, the quantial research methods used the visual and relative scan model. The study covered students who studied in different high schools and classes selected according to the measurement sampling method in the province of Tokat in 2022, who have previously received coding training. The study included 587 high school students. The data has been collected using the "Individual Innovation Scale" adapted by Swords and Odabaşı (2010) and the "Problem Solving Skills Scale" developed by researchers and the "Coding Attitude Scale" developed by Akkuş, Özhan and Blood (2019). The research has found that high school students are generally innovative at the middle level and are among the most "interrogatory" categories in terms of innovation categories, and their problem-solving skills and coding attitudes are also at the middle level. It has also been seen that the increased individual innovation and problem-solving skills of high school students have also increased their attitude towards coding. High school students have a low and meaningful impact on their individual level of innovation and problem-solving skills on their attitudes towards coding, and the ability to solve problems on the coding attitude variable has been more important than individual innovation.
