Abstract:

In our age, progress and metamorphosis continue rapidly. This study, according to teachers' perspectives; It is aimed to determine the relationship between the transformational leadership characteristics of school principals and teachers' organizational commitment and motivation. Correlational design was used in our study. Our target group is 6291 teachers working in 364 schools in Istanbul-Basaksehir district in the 2020-2021 academic year. The research method is cluster sampling. 405 teachers participated in the research. Scales were prepared and applied in Google Form, in data collection; “Transformational Leadership Scale”, “School Engagement Scale”, “Job Motivation Scale” were applied. As a result, the data were analyzed with the SPSS 25.0 program. Likert type scales were used in our study. “Reliability Analysis” was conducted to test the reliability of the scale applied. Independent t-test was used to find the difference between 2 independent groups in the comparison of the results with normal distribution, and one-way analysis of variance was used in the comparison of more independent groups. Nonparametric tests were used for results that were not normally distributed. To compare these results, Mann Whitney U was applied to find the difference between two independent groups. Kruskal Wallis analysis was performed to compare more than two independent groups. The Bonferroni method was used to find the group that made the difference. Pearson correlation was used to test the relationship between continuous variables, and a significant and positive relationship was found between the scales and their sub-dimensions.
