Kuzey Makedonya, Osmanlı Devleti’nin uzun yıllar egemenliğinde kalmış bir bölgedir (1389-1913). Osmanlı, coğrafi ve kültürel yakınlık sebebiyle fethedilen diğer yerlerden daha çok Balkanlarla ilgilenmiştir. Bunun neticesinde de özellikle demografi, sosyal hayat, ekonomi ve kültür alanlarında Osmanlı tecrübesi büyük ve zengin bir miras bırakmıştır. Bunlardan biri kurban ibadetidir. Kurban, sosyal yönü olan bir ibadettir. Balkanlarda günümüzde de uygulanmaya devam eden kurban, başta sahip olduğu ibadet olma vasfı ve insanları birleştirici özelliğinden ötürü, müslüman ve hatta gayr-i müslimlerin değer verdiği sosyal bir olgudur. Kurban ibadeti sadece kurban bayramına mahsus olmadığından doğum, ölüm, adak, şükür gibi çeşitli vesilelerle bir ritüel olarak da bölgede varlığını sürdürmüştür. Bu çalışmada İslam’ın şiarı olarak kabul edilen kurban ibadetinin, Makedonya ve çevresinde nasıl uygulandığı bir taraftan kaynaklara başvurarak, diğer taraftan bölgede tarafımızdan gerçekleştirilen gözlem ve röportajlardan elde edilen verilerle incelenecektir.
North Macedonia is a region that has been under the Ottoman state for many years (1389-1913). It was more concerned with the Balkans than with other places occupied due to Ottoman, geographical and cultural proximity. As a result, the Ottoman experience, especially in the fields of demography, social life, economics and culture, has left a great and rich heritage. One of them is the worship. The sacrifice is a worship with a social direction. The sacrifice that continues to be applied in the Balkans today is a social phenomenon that is valued by Muslims and even non-Muslims, because of its worship of worship and its unifying characteristics. The sacrifice worship is not only dedicated to the sacrifice holiday, it has continued its existence in the region as a ritual with various occasions such as birth, death, sacrifice, thanksgiving. This study will explore how the sacrifice worship, which is considered the poem of Islam, is applied in Macedonia and its surroundings; on the one hand, by referring to the sources, on the other hand, with the data obtained from the observations and interviews carried out by us in the region.

As a result, the Ottoman experience left a great and rich legacy, especially in the fields of demography, social life, economy and culture. One of these is the worship of sacrifice (qurban). Qurban is a worship with a social aspect. Qurban, which continues to be practiced in the Balkans today, is a social phenomenon valued by Muslims and even non-Muslims, primarily because of its quality of worship and its unifying characteristic. The worship of sacrifice is not limited to the feast of sacrifice but has continued to exist in the region as a ritual on various occasions such as birth, death, sacrifice and gratitude. In this study, how the worship of sacrifice, which is accepted as the symbol of Islam, is practiced in Macedonia and its surroundings will be examined by referring to the sources on the one hand, and on the other hand, with the data obtained from the observations and interviews conducted by us in the region.
