Bu çalışmanın amacı eğitimdeki yeri ve önemi özellikle son yıllarda daha belirgin hale gelen sosyobilimsel konular konu alanında Türkiye’de yayımlanmış yüksek lisans ve doktora tezlerini incelemektir. Araştırma verileri Yükseköğretim Kurulu (YÖK) Başkanlığı Ulusal Tez Merkezi üzerinden yapılan tarama sonucunda elde edilmiştir. Yapılan alanyazın incelemesi “sosyobilimsel” ve “sosyo-bilimsel” anahtar kelimeleri ile ulaşılan ve tam metinlerine erişim izni olan 95 adet lisansüstü tezi (78 yüksek lisans, 17 doktora) kapsamaktadır. Tam metinlerine erişilebilen tezler nitel araştırma desenine ait olan doküman analizi yöntemi ile incelenmiştir. Analizlerde tezlerin sunulmuş oldukları ana bilim dalları, yayımlandıkları yıllar, tez türleri (yüksek lisans, doktora), ele alınan sosyobilimsel konular, analiz edilen değişkenler, çalışmalarda yer alan örneklemler ve faydalanılan araştırma desen ve yöntemlerine yoğunlaşılmıştır. Analizlerin bulguları yoluyla Türkiye’de sosyobilimsel konular üzerine yayımlanmış olan tezlerle ilgili genel bir çerçeve çizilmiş ve bulgular eğitim araştırmaları bağlamında yorumlanmıştır. Çalışmanın, sosyobilimsel konulardaki araştırmalara ve bu araştırmaların eğitim uygulamalarına ilgi duyan araştırmacı ve eğitimcilere fayda sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.
The purpose of this study is to examine the master's and doctoral theses written in Türkiye on socioscientific issues, place and importance of which have become more prominent in education. The research data were obtained through the review of the country’s National Thesis Centre of the Council of Higher Education. The literature review included 95 postgraduate theses (75 master’s theses, 17 doctoral dissertations) which were accessed with the keywords of "socioscientific" and "socio-scientific" and whose full texts were available. Theses, whose full texts were available, were subjected to document analysis. The analyses focused on the main disciplines in which the theses were presented, years in which they were completed, types of theses (master's, doctoral), socioscientific issues they focused on, data analysis variables, and methodological issues (i.e., sample, research design and method) regarding the theses. Through the findings of the analyses, a general framework was drawn about the theses on socioscientific issues in Türkiye and the findings were interpreted in the context of educational research. The study is believed to benefit researchers and educators who are interested in research on socioscientific issues and its educational practices.
