Abstract:

The present study aimed to analyze the effect of home-based online exercise program applied by individual trainer leadership on depression and body image in obesity women during the Covid-19 pandemic. 40 women with a mean age of 40.07 ± 10.30, a mean height of 162.15 ± 6.49 and a mean BMI of 36.0 voluntarily participated in the study. The participants were divided into two groups as the exercise group (EG) (n=20) and the control group (CG) (n=20) by random sampling method. EG women participated in home exercises with the online program for approximately one hour three days a week for twelve weeks. No exercise program was applied to CG women. Borg's perceived difficulty scale was used to determine the difficulty level of the exercise. Beck Depression Scale and Body Perception scales were applied to the participants at the beginning and end of the exercise. SPSS 23 package program was used for statistical analysis. The difference between the first and last test scores of EG and CG women on depression and body image was examined with the dependent samples t test. According to the analyzed results, significant differences were found between pre-test depression (21.55±13.98) and body image (113.65±40.51) scores of EG women and post-test depression (2.65±3.57) and body image (175.05±23.57) scores (p<0.05). As a result, it can be stated that home exercises performed online during the Covid-19 pandemic period had a positive effect on depression and body image in women with obesity.
