Abstract:

Considering the importance of graphics in our lives, it also becomes important how graphics are dealt with in the statistics teachings. As a result of our statistical teachings, students in graphics are expected to have a high level of understanding and the necessary qualifications in graphics. In this context, it is important for students to realize a conceptual understanding of graphics in how graphics are dealt with in the statistics teachings. Teachers take advantage of different resources, including teaching books, when planning their lessons. In this sense, the teaching books are among the important elements for our teachings. In this context, this study aims to study the activities aimed at the graphics included in the statistical teaching in high school math classrooms in terms of graphic skills and graphic level of understanding. In the study, the quality research approach was adopted and the method of document analysis was used. The data of this study was collected in accordance with the studies made in the mathematics curricula books used for classes 5, 6, 7 and 8 in high schools in the educational and educational year 2020-2021. The activities related to graphics included in the field of statistical learning in the high school math courses have been studied within the scope of graphic understanding levels and graphic skills. Looking at the results of the study, it appears that the questions included in the events in the curriculum books are often limited to lower levels of understanding and skills. In this context, it is recommended that the lectures contain questions that measure the higher level of understanding of graphics.
