Abstract:

Within the scope of the research, it was aimed to intervene in the addiction problem with the "Psychological Counseling Program with Positive Psychology and Positive Psychotherapy Oriented Group". This research is in the experimental model and was designed as a pre-test/post-test control group model, which is one of the real experimental models. The dependent variable in the study is "Technology Addiction", "Emotional Intelligence" and "Strategies to Increase Happiness" scores. The independent variable is “Group Counseling Program Oriented with Positive Psychology and Positive Psychotherapy.” Ethics committee approval, dated 21.03.2021 and numbered 2021/01, was obtained from Yıldız Technical University Social and Human Sciences Research Ethics Committee for the study. The findings of the research are as follows. There was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of the individuals in the experimental group on the Internet Addiction Scale, the Emotional Intelligence Feature Scale, and the Adult Happiness Increasing Strategies Scale (p<0.05). It was observed that the Internet Addiction Scale post-test scores of the students in the experimental group were lower than their pre-test scores. It was observed that the students in the experimental group had higher Emotional Intelligence Trait Scale and Adult Happiness Enhancing Strategies Scale post-test scores than their pre-test scores.
