Kentsel iç mekan, şehirlerdeki iç mekanları tanımlayan bir terimdir. Kentsel iç mekanlar, insanların sosyal etkileşimde bulundukları, ticaret yapılan, rekreasyonel ihtiyaçlara çözüm sunan ve kültürel deneyimlerin yaşandığı boşluklardır. Yapılar arasında kalan bu boşluklar tarif edilebilir niteliklere dönüşerek çalışmanın odağını oluşturmuştur. Çalışma kapsamında kentsel açık alanlarda iç mekanların keşfedilmesi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu keşif yapılırken mekansal bileşenler ve iç mekan tipolojisi önemli bir araç olarak kullanılmıştır. Çanakkale kent merkezinde iç mekan keşifleri; düzlem tipi, L tipi, U tipi, köşe tipi, sonu kapalı tip, C tipi, etrafı kapalı tip, çoklu düzlem tipi ve tünel tipi olmak üzere 9 kentsel iç mekân tipolojisine göre yapılmıştır. Bu tiplojiye göre keşfedilen mekanlar, yatay ve düşey boşluklarda oluşum durumuna ve mekansal etki ölçeğine ve kültürel yaklaşıma göre değerlendirilmiştir. Değerlendirmeye göre kentsel iç mekanların, kent günlük yaşamında hep var olduğu, göz ardı edildiği ya da farkında olmadan kullanıldığı gözlemlenmiştir. Kentsel iç mekanlar, kentsel dış mekan yaşantısına katkı sunan ve kolaj kurgular oluşturan potansiyel mekanlar olduğu ve kentsel tasarım çalışmaları kapsamında kentsel iyileştirme ve yenileme sürecinde önemli bir tasarım parçası niteliği taşıdığı sonucuna varılmıştır.
Urban interior is a term that describes interiors in cities. Urban interiors are spaces where people interact socially, trade, provide solutions to recreational needs, and experience cultural experiences. These gaps between the buildings turned into definable qualities and formed the focus of the study. Within the scope of the study, the exploration of interior spaces in urban open spaces was carried out. Spatial components and interior typology were used as an important tool while making this discovery. Interior explorations in the city center of Çanakkale; Plane type, L type, U type, corner type, closed-end type, C type, closed type, multi-plane type and tunnel type according to 9 urban interior typologies. The spaces discovered according to this typology were evaluated according to the formation status in the horizontal and vertical spaces, the spatial effect scale and the cultural approach. According to the evaluation, it has been observed that urban interior spaces are always present in the daily life of the city, are ignored or are used unconsciously. It has been concluded that urban interior spaces are potential spaces that contribute to urban outdoor life and create collage fictions, and that they are an important design element in the urban improvement and renewal process within the scope of urban design studies.
