Abstract:

The traditional houses in the Akseki-İbradı Basin of the Mediterranean Region, produced by local-craftsmen with climatic data, cultural interaction, local building materials and local building materials; although they were built with locally easily available wood and stone materials, they are different and unique from the traditional housing examples encountered in Anatolia in terms of construction technique and façade features. This study aims to examine the spatial structure, architectural features of the traditional houses that have survived to the present day in Akseki Akşahap Neighbourhood Urban Protected Area, and to develop suggestions for the protection of the settlement with a holistic approach within the scope of rural heritage and its transfer to future generations. Within the scope of the study, the geographical, demographic and economic structure and spatial development of Akşahap Neighbourhood have been investigated, traditional houses have been analysed through literature research and field study for the protection of rural heritage in Akseki, and with the data obtained, traditional houses that should be transferred to future generations in the context of social and cultural sustainability, and decisions to support the development of the region, suggestions for their protection and preservation.
