Abstract:

The place and great importance of mining in Old or Proto-Turkic Cultures unquestionably necessitates the research of Central Asia in terms of mining history. At this point, the Altai Mountains are one of the geographies with the most remarkable potential. Especially the rich and rare tin deposits found in the Kazakh Altai provide important data in terms of Bronze Mining and the spread of bronze use throughout Eurasia. Analyzes of bronze tools and weapons conducted in recent years have revealed that tin mined from the Kalba-Narım Mountain Range was widely used throughout Eurasia. This indicates the existence of a relationship with the Seyma-Turbino culture, defined through bronze tools and weapons. Analysis and dating of finds from the Seyma-Turbino culture reveal that the known chronology for Eurasia needs to be updated. This study aims to clarify the great role played by Kazakh Altai in the emergence and development of Tin Bronze Mining due to its rich tin deposit.
