21. Yüzyılda bilim ve teknolojinin bugüne geldiği noktada henüz yeni olan bir sanal evren inşa edilmektedir. Yeni inşa edilen bu dünya Metaverse (sanal evren) olarak adlandırılmaktadır. Metaverse ilk olarak Neal Stephenson’nun 1992 yılında Snow Crash (parazit)adlı romanında ele aldığı bilinmektedir. Metavers’ün turizm sektöründe, turistlerin seyahat öncesi destinasyonları daha iyi tanımalarına yardımcı olması ve turistlerin seyahat planlamalarına katkıda bulunması amaçlanmaktadır. Turizm sektörünün metaverse’de inşa edeceği turistik yerler ve yeni iş olanakları yaratacağı ve bunun işletmecilere büyük bir avantaj ve kazanç getirmesi beklenmektedir. Bu çalışma kavramı yeni olan metaverse’ü turizm çerçevesinde incelemeyi hedeflemektedir. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmadaki bulgularda ise ağırlıklı olarak metaverse ve turizm alanı üzerinde durulmuş olup ulusal ve uluslararası 32 araştırma incelenmiştir. Ancak literatürde metaverse ve turizm ile ilgili çalışmaların sayısının az olması nedeniyle edinilen bulgular da kısıtlı olmuştur. Bu çalışma ile turizm alanı başta olmak üzere gelecekteki araştırmacılara öneriler sunulması amaçlanmıştır.
21 of 21. In the century, a new virtual universe is being built at the point of science and technology arriving today. This newly built world is called Metaverse (Virtual Universe). Metaverse was first described by Neal Stephenson in his 1992 novel Snow Crash. In the tourism sector, Metavers aims to help tourists better understand their pre-travel destinations and to contribute to tourists’ travel planning. It is expected that the tourism sector will create tourist attractions and new business opportunities that will be built in the metaverse, and this will bring a great advantage and profits to the operators. This concept of study aims to explore the new metaverse in the framework of tourism. The research method was used in the study. The findings in the study were focused mainly on metaverse and tourism, and 32 national and international studies were studied. However, the findings obtained in literature have also been limited due to the lack of metaverse and the number of studies related to tourism. This study is aimed at presenting recommendations to future researchers, primarily in the tourism sector.
