Abstract:

In Turkey, which has become a rapidly multicultural country due to its immigration in recent years, important steps in the integration of migrants into society must be taken. It is understood that multicultural education is an appropriate approach that may be used in the integration of migrants into society, in addition to allowing individuals to translate their cultures into the educational environment, as well as defending a equal perspective and developing dialogue between different groups. It appears that both adult education and multiculturalism are highlighted in learning needs and in learning environments that individuals need to develop themselves in order to have equal opportunities. Therefore, taking advantage of the multicultural understanding of education in studies aimed at adult migrants can help to effective results in managing the process of social harmony. The National Education Ministry [MEB] and the Presidency of the Immigration Administration in cooperation with the aim of facilitating the social harmony of the adult foreigners living in Turkey and supporting them to live their daily lives, the "Social Harmonization and Life Education" [SUYE] Programme is designed to determine how much the multicultural educational principles and approaches are addressed. The study was studied using the document review method through the standard list prepared for the 2021 and 2022 SUYE curricula programs. The findings show that the program contains information about Turkey that will facilitate adult foreigners’ daily lives and a scope aimed at raising awareness in terms of Turkish culture, but the participants do not have an approach to their own cultures and a attitude is adopted in terms of multicultural differences being ignored and adapted to the culture of the host country. Due to the fact that individuals benefit from this program are from different cultures, the implementation of regulations in the program in accordance with the principles of inclusion and multicultural education can ensure that more effective results are achieved.
