Felsefi düşünme biçiminin öznesi olarak insanın bizatihi kendisi felsefi düşüncenin esaslı bir meselesi olmak durumundadır. İnsan hangi yetisiyle bilme edimini gerçekleştirmekte ve hangi yetisiyle ahlaki evrene dahil olmaktadır? Bilen ve eyleyen bir varlık olarak insanın entelektüel ve ahlaki kapasitesinin zeminine dair bir soruşturma felsefi düşüncenin başlangıcından günümüze ilgi odağı olmaya devam etmiştir. İslam düşünce tarihinde de insanın mahiyetine ilişkin tartışmalar nefs teorileri bağlamında ortaya konulmuştur. Mantıktan kelama, felsefeden tasavvufa kadar pek çok disiplin içerisinde ele alınmış olan nefs meselesi ruh ve akıl kavramlarıyla ilişkili olarak tartışılmıştır. İnsanın bilgi üreten bir varlık olmasının yanı sıra ahlakın ülkesine doğru yönelen bir varlık olmasının onun hangi yönüyle ilgili olduğu meselesi insanın neliğine dair önemli bir tartışma alanı oluşturmaktadır. İslam düşünce tarihinde kendisine müstesna bir mevki elde etmiş Gazali’nin konuyla ilgili yaklaşımlarına yakından bakmak düşünce tarihi açısından önemli olmak durumundadır. Özgün bir düşünce sistematiği geliştirmiş olan Gazali’nin nefs kuramı bağlamında ortaya koyduğu antropolojik kuram kendisinden sonraki çağlar boyunca etkisini sürdürmüştür. Mevcut çalışma Gazali’nin düşünce dizgesinde ruh, nefs ve akıl kavramların anlamları ve ilişkileri üzerinde yoğunlaşmaktadır.
As the subject of philosophical thinking, man himself has to be a fundamental issue of philosophical thought. With which faculty does man perform the act of knowing and with which faculty he is included in the moral universe? An investigation into the ground of the intellectual and moral capacity of man as a knowing and acting being has continued to be the focus of attention since the beginning of philosophical thought. In the history of Islamic thought, the debates about the nature of man have been put forward in the context of the theories of the soul. The issue of soul, which has been handled in many disciplines from logic to speech, from philosophy to mysticism, has been discussed in relation to the concepts of spirit and mind. In addition to being a being that produces knowledge, the issue of being an entity oriented towards the country of morality is an important area of discussion about the nature of human being. It has to be important in terms of the history of thought to look closely at the approaches of Ghazali, who has achieved an exceptional position in the history of Islamic thought. The anthropological theory put forward by Ghazali, who developed an original system of thought, in the context of his theory of soul, continued its influence throughout the following ages. The present study focuses on the meanings and relationships of the concepts of spirit, soul and mind in Ghazali's thought system.
