Abstract:

University settlements are areas where education activities take place, where accommodation is provided for students and faculty members, where education units, open and green areas, indoor areas, recreational areas are usually located near the city. The settlements are generally used by faculty members, students, administrative staff and the public, but are especially active living areas for students. One of the most important factors that enables the quality and continuity of these living spaces to be measured is the physical texture. In this context, the aim of the study is to determine the student satisfaction of the physical tissue of the Atatürk University campus. For this purpose, first, the external physical tissue of the campus was classified to determine the external physical competence of the site, then surveyed at eight faculties to determine the student satisfaction of the external physical equipment. The survey study to obtain information about the opportunities offered by the campus in different seasons was carried out in three different seasons and the data obtained were evaluated in the SPSS 20 statistical program. As a result of the research, it was determined that the students liked the socio-cultural activities and opportunities of the campus (64.4%), pedestrian circulation (50.0%) insufficient, the planted areas (42.89%) sufficient, and the general use of the campus (50.8%). As a result of the study, suggestions were made, including appropriate planning and design decisions, in order to increase the use of universities in winter cities for recreational purposes during the winter months.
