Doğumdan itibaren çocuklar, bakıma ihtiyaç duyan ve çevre desteği sayesinde dünyada varlığını sürdürmeye çalışan bireylerdir. İnsanlık tarihi boyunca şiddetin mağdurları arasında ilk sırada bulunan, seslerini duyurmada yetersiz kalan, belli yaşa kadar savunmasız olan ve yetişkin korumasına gereksinim duyan çocuklar olmuştur. İstismar ve ihmal dünyada pek çok çocuğu ve ailesini etkileyen oldukça önemli bir sorundur. Bu durum çocuklarda fiziksel, bilişsel ve psikososyal alanda olumsuz etkileri olan ve ciddi sonuçlar doğuran problemlerin başında gelmektedir. Dünya Sağlık Örgütü verilerine göre, çocuk istismarı sebebiyle her gün beş çocuk ölmekte, dört kız çocuğundan biri ya da beş erkek çocuğundan biri cinsel tacize uğramakta ve dünyada bir milyardan fazla çocuk her yıl fiziksel şiddete maruz kalmaktadır. İhmal ve istismarın çoğunlukla gizlenmesi, istismar ve ihmale maruz kalan çocuk ve toplum üzerinde uzun süreli, yıkıcı ve kalıcı problemler oluşturması ve ciddi bir insanlık suçu olmasından dolayı multidisipliner bir yaklaşım gerektirmektedir. Bu durumdan dolayı bu derlemede Türkiye’de ve Dünya’da yapılmış çocuk ihmal ve istismarı konusunda ele alınan çalışmaları çocuklar, ebeveynler ve öğretmenler boyutuyla incelemek ve elde edilen veriler ışığında öneriler sunmak amaçlanmıştır.
From birth children are individuals who need care and try to survive in the world thanks to environmental support. Throughout the history of humanity, the first among the victims of violence have been children who are unable to make their voices heard that vulnerable to a certain age and need adult protection. Child abuse and neglect is a very important social problem that affects millions of children and their families around the world. This is one of the problems that have cognitive, physical and psychosocial effects on children and cause serious consequences. According to the data of the World Health Organization, five children die every day due to child abuse, one in four girls or one in five boys is sexually abused, and more than one billion children in the world are exposed to physical violence every year. Because neglect and abuse are mostly concealed, it creates long-term, devastating and permanent problems on children and society exposed to abuse and neglect, and it is a serious crime against humanity, it requires a multidisciplinary approach. Due to in this review it is aimed to examine the studies on child neglect and abuse in Turkey and The World in terms of children, parents and teachers and to present suggestions in the light of the data obtained.
