Abstract:

In the pre-school period, where environmental stimulators are critical for language development, it is considered important to study the relationship between the time children spend with technological devices and word learning. This study is aimed at exploring the relationship between pre-school children’s word acquisition and technology use. In this study, a long-term pattern of quantum research methods was used. The research group consists of 143 children and their families. The data of the study was collected using the Turkish Expression and Recipient Language (TIFALD) Test and family information form. According to the results of the study, children’s both receiving and expressive language word information makes significant differences depending on the mother’s educational status. The first and second measurement expressive language word information of the children involved in the study differs significantly in favour of the other brothers who go to school at home. According to the conditions of technology use of the children involved, when the word information is studied, it is found that the time of television viewing and the time of use of information communication technologies (BIT) the receiver and expression language word information does not differ significantly. According to the type of activity of the children involved in the study, the expressive language word information differs. Children who spend their time playing more in digital environments are expressive language words knowledge while listening to music/songs is a great deal.
