In this article, the view of oaths in the Qur'an by a modern Indian writer, Abdulhamid el-Farahi (1863-1930), was discussed. Farahi has offered a new interpretation of the Qur’anic oaths. According to him, an oath is consisted of a MB and MA. There is a connection be-tween these two. MA is an aim and MB is a tool. Farahi defends the oaths such as neither the glorifications of swearing on the objects as classic scholars nor the type of prophecy oaths such as Western scholars. According to Farahi, the purpose of the Qur’anic oaths is not to support or strength the MA, only present an evidence. Qur’anic oaths are as type of evidence oaths. Farahi evaluates the oaths from a historical-linguistic scientific perspective instead of viewing the oaths from theological perspective as traditional scholars. While traditional scho-lars reject the verse oaths to be an evidence, Ferahi, expresses a theory which can be applied to both Qur’anic oaths and verse oaths.
