Abstract:

Market participants who are willing to invest within the financial system have always tended to look for a suitable investment tool for themselves. Due to the fact that interest and similar facts are not seen by certain religious persons (especially Muslims) as a suitable type of profit, Islamic banking and the instruments used in this field have gained a share in the financial markets and this share is growing over and over the day. The Islamic financial activities in Turkey through Participating Banks, like other banks, have been exposed to the 2008 global financial crisis. In this context, the main objective of the study is to reveal the impact of the 2008 global financial crisis on participating banks operating in Turkey. The implemented Smallest Swimming Quarters and Panel Regression Analysis found the negative effects of GDP variables on Active and Self-Capital Profitability. There has also been a negative and meaningful impact between self-capital profitability and crisis variation.
