Abstract:

In this study, the possible relationships between the variables of self-compassion, social support, psychological resilience and subjective well-being of mothers with disabled children were examined, and it was investigated to what extent all other variables predict subjective well-being. Then, a model trial was conducted through path analysis. The sample of the study consisted of 70 mothers who had a mentally disabled child and agreed to participate voluntarily in the study. The Demographic Information Form, The Short Form of the Self-Compassion Scale, The Resilience Scale for Adults, The Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, and The Subjective Well-Being Scale were used as data collection tools, and all scales were administered to the participants face to face. As a result of the analyzes, significant correlation coefficients were obtained between all variables. The proposed regression model, including the total scores of self-compassion, psychological resilience, and social support of mothers with disabled children, explained 79% of the variance of the total subjective well-being scores. Finally, in the path analysis model showing high adjustment indices, it was observed that the level of self-compassion and social support predicted subjective well-being over the total psychological resilience scores.
