Abstract:

The aim of this study is to study the levels of mobile phone addiction of university students and the conditions of internet use in terms of various variables. Students’ mobile phone addiction levels have been evaluated in terms of gender, study program, internet use experience. Data is also collected about the devices they use when connecting to the internet, the purposes of using the internet and the social media platforms they use. This study was carried out with a scan model from quantum research methods. The research group consists of 196 students studying in the social and technical programs of the professional college. It has been revealed that women’s students have higher levels of mobile phone addiction than male students. As students experience using the internet, the levels of mobile phone addiction are also increasing. The majority of students have between 5 and 9 years of experience using the Internet. Mobile phones have been highlighted as the most commonly used device for connecting to the internet by students. Students use the Internet for the most purpose of accessing social media while listening to music, engaging in learning activities and instant messaging are among the activities they do intensely.
