Tarihi yapılar insanların geçmişiyle bir bağlantı kuran, toplumun kültürünü yansıtan, topluma ait birçok olgunun okunabildiği eserlerdendir. Bu yapılardan bazıları geçmişten günümüze farklı işlevlerle ya da orijinal işlevini koruyarak gelmekte bazıları da, yapılaşmanın ve nüfusun artmasıyla birlikte yok olabilmektedir. Kent dokusunu oluşturan tarihi yapıların yok olmasını önleyebilmek ve topluma yeniden kazandırmak için koruma altına alınabilmekte ve yeniden işlevlendirilebilmektedir. Kayseri kenti, köklü bir tarihe sahip olması nedeni ile birçok tarihi yapıyı da içinde barındırmaktadır. Kayseri ilinde yer alan tarihi yapılardan biri olan Kayseri Lisesi, kent içinde önemli bir konumda bulunmaktadır. Yapı, zamanın getirdiği ihtiyaçlar ve imkânlar doğrultusunda yeniden işlevlendirilmiş ve işlev değişimleri sonucunda da mekânsal değişiklikler meydana gelmiştir. Çalışmada yapıda meydana gelen işlevsel değişikliklerin, yapının tarihi dokusu üzerinde ne gibi değişikliklere neden olduğu irdelenmektedir. Çalışmanın amacı, yapının tarihi dokusu ve yapısal özellikleri ile geçmişten günümüze kadar yaşadığı değişimlerin ortaya koyulmasıdır. Çalışmada, yapının literatürünü içeren genel bilgileri farklı kaynaklardan derlenmiş ve yapıya dair işlev değişimlerinin anlatıldığı plan ve fotoğraflara ulaşılmıştır. Ulaşılan belgeler ışığında yapı, farklı yıllardaki işlev değişimleri ile yapısal ve mekânsal olarak analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmada yapının geçirmiş olduğu değişim ve taşıdığı değerler incelendiğinde, yapının formunun ve yapısal özelliklerin neredeyse birçoğunun günümüze kadar taşındığı ama iç mekân malzeme özelliklerinin taşınmasında aynı duyarlılığın gösterilmediği, zaman içindeki mekânsal değişimlerin daha fazla olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
Historical buildings are among the works that create a connection with the past of people, reflect the culture of the society, and in which many facts belonging to society can be read. Some of these buildings remain from the past to the present with different functions or by preserving their original functions, while others may disappear with the increase in population and construction. In order to prevent the destruction of historical buildings that make up the urban fabric and to restore them to the society, they can be protected and re-functionalized. Due to the fact that the City of Kayseri has a deep-rooted history, it contains many historical buildings. Kayseri High School, one of the historical buildings in Kayseri province, has an important position in the city. The building has been re-functionalized in line with the needs and possibilities of time, and spatial changes have occurred as a result of functional changes. In this study, the changes in the historical texture of the building caused by functional changes are examined. The study aims to reveal the historical texture and structural features of the building and the changes it has experienced from the past to the present. In this study, general data containing the literature of the building is compiled from different sources, and plans and photographs describing the functional changes of the building are obtained. In the light of the documents reached, the structure is analyzed structurally and spatially with its functional changes in different years. After the changes the building has undergone and the values it carries are examined in the study, it is concluded that almost most of the form and structural features of the building have been carried until today, but the same sensitivity is not shown in the transportation of the interior material properties, and that spatial changes over time are seen more.
