Abstract:

The clinical social service, which is considered one of the fields of psychiatric social service, includes individual, family and group interventions and consultancy, which helps people overcome interpersonal and environmental problems and focuses on contributing to their social functionality, individuals, couples, families and groups. There are only two universities in Turkey with a graduate education program in the field of clinical social services (Yıldırım Beyazıt University and Capital University). In this sense, when clinical social service in our country is generally assessed, it can be said that it is not sufficiently organized because of the lack of sufficient legal ground. In terms of education, the general approach to social services has been adopted and the clinical-oriented understanding of education has been found to exist in graduate studies, although it can be stated that clinical social services education is the beginning of the development. In this study, the current situation in the field of clinical social services and clinical social services education will be attempted to be addressed through the example of the United States (US) where this field finds the possibility of advanced intensive application.
