Sınıf Öğretmenlerinin Suriyeli Mülteci Öğrencilere Yönelik Tutumlarının Hizmet İçi Eğitim Bağlamında İncelenmesi: Bir Karma Yöntem Araştırması

Abstract:

Amaç: Araştırmanın amacı, hizmet içi eğitim bağlamında sınıf öğretmenlerinin Suriyeli mülteci öğrencilere yönelik tutumlarını belirlemektir. Yöntem: Araştırmada nicel ve nitel yaklaşımlarının art arda ve eşit ağırlıkta kullanıldığı açıklayıcı karma desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın nicel verilerini toplamak için “Mülteci Öğrenci Tutum Ölçeği”, nitel verileri toplamak için ise “Yarı Yapılandırılmış Görüşme Formu” kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın nicel verilerini toplamak için ölçüt örnekleme yöntemi ile belirlenen 75 sınıf öğretmeni, nitel verilerini toplamak için maksimum çeşitlilik örneklem türü kullanılarak belirlenen 12 sınıf öğretmeni araştırmanın çalışma grubunu oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın nicel verilerini analiz etmek için betimsel istatistiki yöntemler, nitel verileri analiz etmek için ise içerik analizi tercih edilmiştir. Bulgular: Araştırmada sınıf öğretmenlerinin mülteci öğrencilere yönelik tutumlarının “Mülteci Öğrenci Tutum Ölçeği” nin “İletişim” ve “Uyum” alt boyutlarında “Tamamen Katılıyorum”, “Yeterlik” alt boyutunda “Çoğunlukla Katılıyorum” ve ölçek toplamında “Tamamen Katılıyorum” düzeyinde olduğu belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada sınıf öğretmenlerinin görüşlerinin içerik analizi yolu ile çözümlenmesi ile “İletişim” temasında ön yargısız olma, hoşgörü, eşitlik, destek, motive etmek ve zaman olmak üzere altı, “Uyum” temasında ihtiyaç, eşit davranma/ayrımcılık yapmama, devam, zaman ve rehberlik olmak üzere beş, “Yeterlik” temasında ise tecrübe, hizmet içi eğitim, dil farklılığı, sınıf İçi adaptasyon, iletişim kurma ve lisans eğitimi olmak üzere altı alt tema belirlenmiştir. Sonuçlar ve Öneriler: Araştırmada sınıf öğretmenlerinin mülteci öğrencilere yönelik tutumlarının yüksek düzeyde olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bunun yanında araştırmada mülteci öğrencilere yönelik eğitimler için verilen hizmet içi eğitimlerin yeterli olmadığı saptanmıştır. Ayrıca araştırmada mülteci öğrencilere yönelik sınıf öğretmenlerinin tutumların pozitif yönde ilerlemesi için daha fazla ve nitelikli hizmet içi eğitimlerin verilmesi gerektiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmada ulaşılan sonuçlar doğrultusunda Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı’nın mülteci öğrencilerin eğitimine yönelik hazırlayacağı hizmet içi eğitim programlarına bünyesinde mülteci öğrenci bulunan tüm sınıfların öğretmenlerinin dâhil edilmesi sağlanması önerilebilir.

Review of class teachers’ attitudes towards Syrian refugee students in the context of service-in-service education: a mixed method research

Abstract:

Purpose: The purpose of the study is to determine the attitudes of classroom teachers towards Syrian refugee students in the context of in-service training. Design & Methodology: The Descriptive Mixed Pattern in which the quantitative and qualitative approaches are used together repeatedly and equally was used in the study. The "Refugee Student Attitude Scale" was used to collect the quantitative data of the study, and the "Semi-Structured Interview Form" was used to collect the qualitative data. The study group of the research consisted of 75 classroom teachers determined by the criterion sampling method to collect the quantitative data of the research, and 12 classroom teachers determined using the maximum diversity sampling type to collect their qualitative data. Descriptive statistical methods were preferred to analyze the quantitative data of the research and content analysis to analyze qualitative data. Findings: In the study, it was determined that classroom teachers’ attitudes towards refugee students were at the level of Fully Agree in the Communication and Adaptation sub-dimensions of the Refugee Student Attitude Scale, Mostly Agree in the Competence sub-dimensions, and Fully Agree in the total of the scale. In the research, by analyzing the opinions of classroom teachers through content analysis, six as being biased, tolerance, equality, support, motivation and time in the contact theme, five as need, equal treatment / non-discrimination, attendance, time and guidance in the theme of harmony, Competence In the theme, six sub-themes were determined: experience, in-service training, language difference, in-class adaptation, communication and undergraduate education. Implications & Suggestions: In the study, it was concluded that classroom teachers’ attitudes towards refugee students are at a high level. In addition, in the research, it was determined that in-service training for refugee students was not sufficient. In addition, it was concluded in the study that more and more qualified in-service training should be given in order for classroom teachers’ attitudes towards refugee students to progress positively. In line with the results obtained in the study, it may be suggested to include teachers of all classes with refugee students in the in-service training programs to be prepared by the Ministry of National Education for the education of refugee students.
