Abstract:

Objective: In Turkey, the use of Clinical Decision Support Systems and information systems in healthcare as an institution has recently started. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between nurses' attitudes towards the use of computers in health care and their clinical decision-making skills. Methods: This descriptive and relationship-seeking research was conducted with 314 nurses working in hospitals in Eskişehir. Personal Information Form, Attitudes toward Computers in Healthcare Assessment Scale, and the Clinical Decision-Making Scale in Nursing were used for the study. Results: It was observed that nurses with post-graduate degrees and between the ages of 18-25 had higher scores. The results are in Group 4 with "They feel comfortable while using a computer. They are aware of the usefulness of computers in various situations. They have a realistic view of their computer skills in healthcare" according to the Attitudes toward Computers in Healthcare Assessment Scale. A statistically significant negative relationship was found between all sub-dimension scores of the Clinical Decision-Making Scale in Nursing and the total score of the Attitudes toward Computers in Healthcare Assessment Scale. Conclusion: It is recommended to emphasize the use of digital technology in healthcare, especially in the nursing education and training period.
