Abstract:

Municipalities that have become one of the most important service organizations with the influence of the Today, the use of Industry 4.0 applications in industry and the maritime sector is becoming widespread. Ship 4.0, the maritime counterpart of Industry 4.0, will be the era of remotely controlled, autonomous, unmanned ships. In this context, the aim of the study is to explain the concept of Ship 4.0 with the Industry 4.0 approach, to conceptualize the term Ship 4.0 in the maritime literature, to evaluate the views of the ship captains on the Ship 4.0 transformation process in line with their experiences, to comprehend the contributions of Ship 4.0 to the maritime sector, and to reveal that ship’s people will be able to experience how to difficulties about adaptation to the process. In the study, the effects of Ship 4.0 transformation on the maritime transport sector and what needs to be done to adapt to the transformation were tried to be determined. In the research, phenomenology design, which is a qualitative research method, interview technique as data collection method, content analysis and document analysis as data analysis method were used to determine the views of ship captains on Ship 4.0 transformation. In the research, it has been concluded that with Ship 4.0, maritime accidents caused by human errors will be prevented and there will be no human losses in possible marine accidents. The originality of this study is that the term Ship 4.0 is conceptualized with the Industry 4.0 approach and brought to the literature.
