Aday Ogretmenlerin Elestirel Dusunme Egilimleri İle Duygusal Zeka Duzeyleri Arasindaki İliski

Abstract:

Bu araþtýrmanýn amacý, aday öðretmenlerin eleþtirel düþünme becerilerine yönelik eðilimleri ile duygusal zeka düzeyleri arasýndaki iliþkiyi belirlemektir. Tarama modelinin kullanýldýðý bu araþtýrma, 2006-2007 öðretim yýlý II. yarýyýl döneminde Abant Ýzzet Baysal Üniversitesi Eðitim Fakültesinin 4. sýnýfýnda öðrenim gören toplam 374 aday öðretmenden elde edilen veriler doðrultusunda gerçekleþmiþtir. Araþtýrma verileri, aday öðretmenlerin bazý kiþisel özelliklerinin belirlenmesi için “Kiþisel Bilgi Formu”, eleþtirel düþünme becerileri eðilimlerini ölçmek için “California Eleþtirel Düþünme Eðilimleri Ölçeði” ve duygusal zeka düzeylerini ölçmek için “Bar-On Duygusal Zeka Anketi” aracýlýðýyla toplanmýþtýr. Kökdemir (2003) tarafýndan Türkçe’ye uyarlanan California Eleþtirel Düþünme Eðilimi Ölçeði analitiklik, açýk fikirlilik, meraklýlýk, kendine güven, doðruyu arama, sistematiklik olmak üzere alt ölçeklerinde yer alan toplam 51 sorudan oluþmaktadýr. Mumcuoðlu (2002) tarafýndan Türkçe’ye uyarlanan Bar-On Duygusal Zeka Anketi duygusal öz farkýndalýk, giriþkenlik, öz saygý, öz gerçekleþtirme, baðýmsýzlýk, empati, kiþiler arasý iliþkiler, sosyal sorumluluk ve problem çözme, gerçeklik deðerlendirmesi, esneklik, strese tolerans, dürtü kontrolü, mutluluk, iyimserlik, olumlu izlenim, olumsuz izlenim alt boyutlarýnda yer alan toplam 128 sorudan oluþmaktadýr. Araþtýrmada elde edilen verilerin analizinde SPSS 11.0 paket programý kullanýlmýþtýr. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde istatistiksel tekniklerden frekans, yüzde, aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma, ortalamanýn ortalamasý, Pearson Momentler Çarpýmý Korelasyon Katsayýsý kullanýlmýþtýr. Verilerin analiz edilmesiyle ortaya çýkan sonuçlar þu þekilde özetlenebilir: 1. Aday öðretmenlerin eleþtirel düþünme eðilimleri ölçeði alt ölçeklerinde “Katýlýyorum” ve “Kýsmen Katýlýyorum” seçeneklerine eðilim gösterdikleri; duygusal zeka anketinde “Çoðu Zaman Bana Uygun” seçeneðinde yoðunlaþtýklarý görülmektedir. 2. Aday öðretmenlerin eleþtirel düþünme eðilimleri alt ölçekleri ile duygusal zeka alt boyutlarý arasýnda p<.01 manidarlýk düzeyinde manidar bir iliþki olduðu belirlenmiþtir. Ancak belirlenen bu iliþkinin pozitif yönlü, düþük ve orta derecede olduðu gözlenmiþtir. Ayrýca aday öðretmenlerin eleþtirel düþünme ölçeði ve duygusal zeka anketinden aldýklarý toplam puanlar arasýnda p<.01 manidarlýk düzeyinde pozitif yönlü ve orta seviyede manidar bir iliþki olduðu saptanmýþtýr.

The Relationship Between Candidate Teachers’ Critical Thinking Tendecies and Their Emotional Intelligence Levels

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between candidate teachers’ critical thinking skills tendencies and their emotional intelligence levels. The survey approach was followed and the subjects (n =374) were the fourth year candidate teachers of the Faculty of Education, Abant Izzet Baysal University in the second semester of the 2006-2007 academic year. The, “Personal Information Form”, was used to identify candidate teachers’ personal characteristics. In addition, the “California Critical Thinking Tendencies Inventory” , translated into Turkish by Kökdemir (2003), which has 51 items with the subscales of analyticity, open-mindedness, inquisitiveness, self-confidence, truth seeking, and systematicity; and the “Bar-On Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire”, translated into Turkish by Mumcuoðlu (2002), which has 128 items with the subscales emotional self-awareness, enterprisingness, self-respect, self-actualization, independence, empathy, interpersonal relationships, social responsibility, problem solving, reality testing, flexibility, stress tolerance, impulse control, happiness, optimism, positive impression, negative impression. For the analysis of the data collected, the SPSS version 11.0 package program was used. By means of this program, the frequency, percentage, mean scores, standard deviation, mean square and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient techniques were used. The results of the study can be summarized as follows: 1. It is seen that the candidate teachers had “agree” and “partially disagree” tendencies in critical thinking tendencies inventory, and they had mostly appropriate to me” tendencies in emotional intelligence questionnaire. 2. When the relationship between candidate teachers’ tendencies in the subscales of critical thinking tendencies inventory and emotional intelligence questionnaire is concerned, a significant relationship was observed at the 0.01 level. However, it was observed that the relationship was positive, low and at intermediate level. In addition to this, an intermediate level of significance was found between the scores achieved by candidate teachers in the critical thinking tendencies inventory and emotional intelligence questionnaire at the 0.01 level.
