Abstract:

This research has been carried out to reveal the relationship between emphatic tendency of people and divorce. The emphatic tendency of people who are married and of people who are divorced is compared. The environment where the research has taken place is Akşehir, Konya. The people taken in the survey are 120 and have been chosen at random. 60 of these people are stil married and the other 60 of them are divorced. 30 of the divorced people are women and 30 of them are men; in the same way, 30 of the married people are women and 30 of them are men. İn this research, “Personal İnformation Form and Dökmen’s Empathic Tendency Measure” have been used in order to gather the information. The meaningfulness of the difference, between the emphatic tendency points people who are married and of people who got divorced, has been tested by t-test and variance analysis. 0.05 level of significance has been accepted in the analysis of the information. The following findings have been obtained after this search: 1. The emphtic tendency points of the people who maintain their marriage have been found higher than of the people who are divorced in this meaningfulness level. The highest average point of this meaningfulness level is 71.0 and it belongs to the married people. The average point of the people divorced has been found as 63.35. 2. The emphatic tendency points of the women have been proved to be than those of the men. The aveage emphatic tendency points of women is 70.1,men’s is 64.25. 3. The emphatic tendency points of the women maintaining their marriage have been found higher than those of the divorced women. The average emphatic tendency points of the women maintaining their marriage is 73.66, that of the divorced women is 66.53. 4. The emphatic tendency points of the men maintaining their marriage have been found higher than those of the divorced men. The average emphatic tendency point of the men maintaining their marriage is 69.33, that of the divorced men is 60.16. Key words : Emphaty, divorce.
