Abstract:

The aim of this study is to propose an interdisciplinary socio-scientific activity integrated with scientific reasoning and entrepreneurship skills specific to artificial intelligence within the 6E learning model, and to present the implementation steps of the activity. In addition, it is aimed to get the opinions of pre-service teachers on the implementation and pedagogy of artificial intelligence activity. For this purpose, the research was carried out in a phenomenological design with 10 pre-service science teachers in the 3rd grade. With this activity designed as six lesson hours, movie scenes and scenarios involving the applications of artificial intelligence in different sectors were examined. The advantages of artificial intelligence in terms of science-society-economy-environment-ethics dimensions and the concerns about its applications, the risky situations and the opportunities it creates were evaluated. At the end of the activity, pre-service teachers were expected to design an innovative product using artificial intelligence technology and develop entrepreneurial business ideas. The applicability of the activity was evaluated with the content analysis of the semi-structured interview form and expert opinions. It has been concluded that the activity is sufficient in terms of pedagogical and content knowledge, and it will be beneficial to apply it in science education lessons from the secondary school level. The activity can be used in a way that is compatible with distance education and designed for different grade levels and disciplines.
