Abstract:

The importance of seas and oceans in the changing geopolitical equation in the XXth century is increasing day by day. In a world where regional powers play a major role in the geopolitical equation day by day, the role of the seas is also increasing. Turkey, which connects the continents of Asia and Europe and borders Africa by the sea, is also taking its place in the world order as a regional power. The Republic of Turkey, which has increased its steps in the Eastern Mediterranean region especially in recent years, attaches particular importance to this region in maritime geopolitics, which is identified with the name of the 'Blue Homeland' doctrine. The presence of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on the island of Cyprus is also determined as an important force in Turkey's Eastern Mediterranean activities. The Republic of Turkey demonstrates its presence in the region through the Seville Map proposed to it especially in the Eastern Mediterranean, and through the power and activity of its navy against the exercises frequently conducted against it. In this article, which analyses the Eastern Mediterranean activities of the Republic of Turkey in the maritime geopolitics of the Republic of Turkey with the power theory based on the realism theory, Turkey's position and its effects on the establishment of the future order are discussed.
