Evaluation of insatisfaction body image and possible eating disorders in students in the area of health a private college of the city of Bauru-SP

Eating disorders (ED) are psychiatric disorders that bring emotional and social damages, raising the rate of morbidity and mortality in the population, affects mainly female adolescents in the age group of 15 to 25 years, although it can affect the male adolescents. Among the most common ED we can find Anorexia Nervosa (AN) and Bulimia Nervosa (BN). It is verified that body dissatisfaction may be one of the determining clinical manifestations for the TAs, being that the body image is related to the size and the shape of the body and the feelings with respect to the physical form, therefore, this work aimed to identify the degree of dissatisfaction of body image in students of both sexes, aged 18 to 22 years of the health courses of a private college in Bauru-SP. Food anamnesis, including anthropometric evaluation and the Body Shape Questionarire - BSQ-34 and Food Attitudes - EAT-26 questionnaires were used. Regarding the results, it was observed that 30% of the sample were male and 70% female, and the mean age was 19 (± 1.0) years, anxiety and binge eating were found in 77, 7% and 31.9%, respectively. Regarding nutritional status, 63.8% were eutrophic and 28% overweight. It was verified that 30% are dissatisfied with their body image, being evidenced by both questionnaires, since they present similar results, that is, this population needs nutritional and psychological orientation to avoid that bigger problems can happen, such as anorexia nervosa.
