Giyim tarihine geniş bir perspektiften bakıldığında geleneklerin, göreneklerin, inançların ve yaşam şekillerinin giyim tarzında mutlak bir etkisi olduğu görülmektedir. Köklü geçmişiyle Anadolu, giyim tarihi açısından büyük bir anlam ifade etmektedir. Pek çok medeniyete ev sahipliği yapmış olması da bu zenginliği beslemiştir. Medeniyetlerin kendine has kültürleriyle şekillenen giysiler, o yörede yaşayan insanları da zaman içinde etkilemiş ve benzer öğeleri içermiştir. Geleneksel giyimler üzerine yapılan çalışmalar incelendiğinde araştırmaların daha ziyade kadın giyimleri üzerine yoğunlaştığı görülmektedir. Zira geleneksel kadın giyimine ait birçok örnek günümüze kadar ulaşmayı sayının çokluğu ve sandıkta saklanmış olmasıyla başarmıştır. Ayrıca kadınların bu giysileri anısı ve hatırası için saklamış olduğu da düşünülmektedir. Erkek giyimlerine bakıldığında ise; kadın giyimleri kadar şanslı olmadığı ve yok olmak üzere kaderine terk edildiği görülmektedir. Giyim tarihi sahnesindeki görevini ustaca yerine getirmesine karşın zamanla unutulan Gaziantep erkek giyim kuşamı hakkında, müze ve koleksiyonların detaylıca incelenmesi sonucu ulaşılan örneklerin üzerinde incelemeler yapılmıştır. Bu giysilerin incelenmesi yok olmalarını önleme ve gelecek kuşaklara tanıtılması açısından oldukça önemlidir. Bu çalışma kapsamında Gaziantep Kuva-i Milliye Mücahitler Derneğinde ve Halk Eğitim Merkezlerinde bulunan geleneksel erkek giyimlerinden yelek, cepken ve şalvar örnekleri araştırılmıştır. Bu araştırmalar sonucu elde edilen veriler oluşturulan gözlem fişleri doğrultusunda; kullanılan malzeme, renk, model, kesim, dikim, astar, süsleme ve boyut özellikleri açısından incelenmiştir.
From a broad perspective on clothing history, it seems that traditions, habits, beliefs and lifestyle have an absolute impact on the clothing style. With its root history, Anadolu has a great significance in the history of clothing. The fact that he has hosted many civilizations has also fed this wealth. Clothes shaped by their own cultures of civilizations have also influenced the people living in that place over time and contained similar items. Studies on traditional clothes show that the research focuses more on women’s clothes. Because many examples of traditional women’s clothes have managed to reach to the present day with the numerous and hidden in the box. It is also believed that women have hidden these clothes for memory and memory. When they look at their clothes, they see that they are not as lucky as their clothes and they are abandoned to their fate to disappear. Despite the skillful performance of its mission in the clothing history scene, the Gaziantep male clothing flock, which was forgotten over time, has been reviewed on the examples achieved as a result of the detailed examination of the museums and collections. The study of these clothes is very important to prevent them from disappearing and to be introduced to future generations. In the framework of this study, examples of traditional male clothes found in the Gaziantep Kuva-i Millions Fighters Association and in the People's Education Centers have been studied. The data obtained as a result of these research has been studied according to the observation files created; in terms of the materials used, color, model, cutting, planting, cutting, decoration and size characteristics.
When the garment history is examined in a wide perspective, traditions, customs, believes and life styles have a certain effect on clothing styles. When the subject is this effect, it is for sure that Anatolia has a deep meaning and effect on garment history development by its great Fundamentals. As Anatolia had many civilizations on its lands, this richness has also been nourished. The clothings shaped through and by the unique culture of the civilization, also effect the people living in that society and include similar subjects. When the studies on the traditional clothıng are examined, ıt ıs seen that their major subjects of these studies are women clothıngs. It is because the many samples of the traditional woman clothing are kept in the chests. It is also thought that women keep these clothes fort he sake of their memories and memento. When the men clothings are examined, t can be seen that they are not as lucky as the women clothings. Although having its duty ın the history Gaziantep men wear and clothing are forgotten in time. The samples which are examined are gathered from the museums and collections. The examination of these clothings are very important to keep them alive and transfer them into the next generation. Men outfıts such as vest, short coat and shalwar, at Gaziantep Natıonal Forces Museum and Publıc Educatıon Centers are examıned ın the concept of this study. The clothıngs are examıned in the frame of followıng criterias; the material used ın the outfıt, colour, model, facet, sewing, lining, decoration and shape.
