Maddi kültür ögesi olarak giyim, bir milletin kültürünü gelenek ve göreneklerini yansıtan en önemli unsurların başında gelmektedir. İlk çağlarda tabiat etkinliklerinden korunmak ve örtünmek amacıyla başlayan giyinme ihtiyacı, medeniyet düzeyi ve hayat koşullarının değişimi ile belirginleşmiştir. Ayrıca giyinme şekilleri bulundukları toplumun kültürel değerleri ile biçimlenerek, diğer toplumlardan ayırıcı özellikler barındırmaktadır. Buradan yola çıkarak yüzyıllarca birçok medeniyete ev sahipliği yapmış, değişik kültürlerin etkisi altına girmiş olan Anadolu’da da bölgelerin kendine has geleneksel kıyafetlerinin olması aynı ilde hatta merkez ve köy arasında bile giyim farklılıklarının oluşmasına sebep olmaktadır. Küreselleşen Dünya’da zaman içinde yok olmayla karşı karşıya kalan kültürel miraslarımızdan olan geleneksel giysiler, dönem ve yöresel özelliklere ışık tutması, ayrıca bilimsel bir yaklaşımla incelenerek belgelenmesi ve gelecek kuşaklara aktarılması, geçmişten günümüze köprü oluşturması açısından önem taşımaktadır. Araştırmanın amacı; özel koleksiyonlarda sandıklarda, bohçalardaki geleneksel (yöresel) özel gün kadın giysilerinin kumaş, renk, desen, süsleme, model özelliklerini inceleyerek, gün yüzüne çıkartmak, geleneksel giysileri tanımak, tanıtmaktır. Aynı zamanda giysilerin geleneksel özellikleri ile süslemelerinin güncel giysi tasarımlarına yansıtılmasında ve özgün tasarımların ortaya çıkmasında moda tasarımcılarına kaynak olacağı düşünülmekte, bu sayede kültürel değerlerin yaşatılacağı umulmaktadır. Anadolu’nun batısında yer alan stratejik konumu ile sanayileşme yolundaki büyük adımlarının yanında doğal güzellikleriyle de ön plana çıkan Düzce ili aldığı göçler ve tarihi ile son derece renkli bir giyim kültürüne sahiptir. Düzce İlinde bulunan farklı milletlerin özel günlerde giydikleri giysilerden örneklem alınarak, geleneksel kadın kıyafetlerinden özel gün giysileri araştırılmıştır. Giysiler, oluşturulan gözlem fişleri doğrultusunda; kullanılan malzeme, renk, model, kesim, dikim, astar ve süsleme özellikleri açısından incelenip, fotoğraflanarak görselleştirilmiştir.
Clothing as a material cultural heritage is one of the most important elements reflecting the traditions and customs of a nation. In the early ages, the need for dressing to protect and cover up nature activities became evident by the change in civilization level and living conditions. In addition, the forms of dressing are shaped by the cultural values of the society they are in, and they have distinctive features from other societies. Having been host to many civilizations for centuries, Anatolia, which has been under the influence of different cultures, also has its own traditional clothing, which causes the differences of clothing even on the same side, even between the center and the village. The traditional clothes of our cultural heritage, which are faced with extinction in the globalizing world over time, have a meaning in shedding light on period and local characteristics, examining and documenting them with a scientific approach and transferring them to future generations, forming a daily bridge from the past. Purpose of the research; to examine and introduce traditional cloths, traditional dresses, dresses, colors, designs, ornaments and model features of traditional (regional) special day women’s dresses in coffers in private collections. At the same time, it is expected that the traditional characteristics of clothes and their decoration will be reflected in contemporary clothes designs and the origin of original designs will be a source for fashion designers. It is hoped that cultural values will be experienced at this occasion. In addition to its strategic location in the western part of Anatolia and the great steps on its way to industrialization, Düzce has a very colorful clothing culture with its migrations and history. Special day clothes were searched from traditional women's clothes by taking samples from different nationalities wearing special occasions in Netherlands. The clothes are in the direction of the created observation sticks; the materials used are examined in terms of color, model, cutting, sewing, lining and decoration properties, and photographed and visualized.
