Abstract Bu araştırmanın amacı, lise öğrencilerinin ödev kavramıyla ilgili geliştirdikleri metaforları belirlemektir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma modeli kapsamında olgubilim deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu toplam 232 lise öğrencisi oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada lise öğrencilerinin ödev kavramıyla ilgili metaforları yarı yapılandırılmış bir formla belirlenmiştir. Verilerin analizinde içerik analizi tekniği kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonunda, lise öğrencilerinin ödev kavramıyla ilgili toplam 120 metafor geliştirdikleri görülmüştür. Lise öğrencileri ödev kavramıyla ilgilifazla Eziyet, Sevmediğim yemek, Tekrar, Oyun, Gereksizlik, Sorumluluk, Yemek vb metaforları belirtmişlerdir. Geliştirilen bu metaforlar toplam 11 farklı kategoride toplanmıştır. Bu kategorilerfazla metafor kapsamaları bakımından “Duygusal etkisi, Akademik gelişim için gerekliliği, Zorunlu olması, Ödev yapmanın zorlukları, Sürekli olması, Emek gerektirmesi, Ödev yapmanın yararları, Gereksiz olması, Ödev yapabilmenin gerekleri, Ödev yapmamanın sonuçlar ve Ödevlerin çeşitli olması” olarak sıralanmaktadır. Belirlenen sonuçlar, lise öğrencilerinin ödev yapmaktan hoşlanmadıklarını ve yararına inanmadıklarını vurgulamaktadır.
