Ombudsman has recently become an institution that assists protecting human rights, empowers democracy and improves public administration. However, establishing an ombudsman institution in a country does not always mean that its advantages will automatically come up. Some prerequisites should be accomplished for the success of this institution. It is generally asserted that a strong media support is a pre-requisite for ombudsman’s effectiveness. In this context, this study aims to analyze whether the Turkish ombudsman is adequately supported by the media or not. In this sense, the study empirically examines the relation between ombudsman and media through a content analysis of the news appeared in Turkish media related to the ombudsman and contributes to the debates regarding the applicability of the ombudsman effectively in Turkey
