Abstract:

The research was conducted with the aim of emphasizing the importance of environmental education for children and increasing environmental awareness, which will contribute to the scope of an integrating study that covers environmental knowledge, attitude and behavior and will lead to new studies. However, it is believed that basic education will contribute to the relevant field of environmental education of the scale developed in the context of assessing whether environmental awareness and environmentally friendly behaviors are formed in the current situation. In this regard, the purpose of this research is to determine the level of knowledge, behavior and attitude to the environment of primary school 4th grade students. In the study, a scan model of quantial research methods was used. The research has developed ‘Environmental Information Scale’, ‘Environmental Behavior Scale’ and ‘Environmental Attitude Scale’. The research was carried out with 292 4th-class students studying in the 2018-2019 academic year in the primary schools connected to the Haliliye and Eyyübiye district centers in Shanlıurfa. While the average students' scores are above the scale average for the Environmental Information Scale, they are close to the maximum for the Environmental Behavior and Environmental Attitude scales. The local analysis found that the knowledge, behavior and attitude points to the environment did not differ according to gender. According to the study, the scope of knowledge, behavior and attitude scores are significantly different from the scope of science. A positive relationship between students’ environmental knowledge, attitudes and behavior points has been identified. The results of the study have been discussed with scientific research in the field of the findings and suggests that they may contribute to environmental education.
