Abstract:

The fist newspaper of the Independence War and issued in Sivas under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, İrade-i Milliye Newspaper published articles, advertisements and announcements as well following a publication policy to promote the National Struggle. Informative and warning articles and texts were published to inform the public about infectious and venereal diseases such as plague, syphilis and gonorrhea. With the informative and instructive publications about the causes, signs, remedies for protection and treatment methods of syphilis, the public was tried to be made conscious of the disease. It also published articles to encourage public and authorities to materially and spiritually support hospitals trying to provide health care services with limited equipment and personnel so that they could work more effectively and intervene in every type of disease. İrade-i Milliye Newspaper also supported the campaign started against the national disaster with its responsible publication policy and attempted to mold public opinion for healthy population and generations.
